Which operating systems do they support? Discordĭiscord runs on a proprietary codebase that is privately updated and controlled by the company itself. Discord vs Mumble – Source Code and Installation However, it has grown beyond those confines and spread to other communities and creative pursuits.įor instance, users now take advantage of Mumble to hobby radio transmissions, record podcasts using the multi-channel audio recorder feature, host online gatherings and sessions with over 100 simultaneous voice participants, and communicate with coworkers across countries.Īnd every day, more people are discovering this powerful communication app and finding more ways to exploit the incredible features Mumble has to offer and even extend and modify its capabilities to suit their specific needs. Like Discord, Mumble’s primary use case centers around the gaming community. It’s the very first VoIP service to offer true low latency audio communication and it did this over a decade ago, paving the way for other applications to follow in its footsteps. Mumble is an open source voice chat application offering low latency and high-quality audio communication over the internet. The platform currently boasts of over 150 million users and over 4 billion talk time minutes being recorded each day. Since Discord launched in 2015, it has become increasingly popular and enjoyed massive adoption within gaming communities and beyond. With this in mind, Discord’s founders, Stan Vishnevskiy and Jason Citron, set out to build a better service that encouraged communication, was more interactive, and revived the spirit of togetherness that gaming provides. This forced players to rely heavily on texting, which could hardly match the in-the-moment excitement and fast-paced nature of the gaming experience. Before Discord arrived on the scene, most of the tools doing this job were complicated, unreliable, and slow. What is Discord?ĭiscord is a modern voice, text, and video communication service that makes it easy to have regular conversations with acquaintances or people you care about regardless of whether they live close to you or on the opposite end of the world.ĭiscord was originally created with the goal of helping gamers communicate with their friends from all across the globe while playing video games online. In this post, I’m going to dissect Discord and Mumble to show you the similarities, differences, unique features, advantages, and disadvantages of each platform to give you a clearer understanding of what they offer and empower you to make the right choice. Here’s the answer to the question – The better tool between Discord and Mumble is Mumble. While both tools are impressive in their own right, they more or less serve the same functions with some disparities here and there, so deciding which is the better tool for you can be a challenge. Millions of users have gravitated towards Mumble and Discord because they have a low barrier for entry, are convenient to use, and support voice communication over the internet. ![]() We can even interact with people we’re playing a game against in real-time using modern communication tools like Discord and Mumble.

You can run v.in.gpsbabel multiple times and merge the line and point vectors with the v.patch command if you want, but take care when merging dissimilar attribute tables. Route and Track data may be uploaded as a series of points by using the -p flag, otherwise they will be imported as lines. Great care must be taken to get these parameters correct! The automatic transform may be skipped by using the -k flag in which case the data will be imported unprojected, as it appears in the input. If your GPS outputs data using another projection or map datum, you may include the PROJ.4 parameters defining your projection in the proj option and v.in.gpsbabel will reproject your data accordingly. The default input data projection is lat/lon WGS84. NOTES v.in.gpsbabel automatically reprojects data using the projection settings of the current location. You don't have to delete articles that you're replacing, just don't have them show up in the sidebar anymore. When somebody clicks on the new object, your contextual help article that explains what the object is used for, will automatically appear. Your Salesforce instance is always changing, so write articles for new custom objects. When your users go into the various tabs, have articles with titles like, "What is this tab used for?" or "What am I supposed to do in this tab?" Because those are the questions that your users will have when they first begin using Salesforce. For example, you could title an article "What is Salesforce and how does use it?" and make it available in the "Home" tab. This would be a good place to have a video that explains concepts and covers a high-level overview. So create help articles that go over the main workflows at a high level. When your users are new to Salesforce, their questions are going to be along the lines of, "What do I do?" Articles that explain "how" to do a task aren't that helpful because users won't be able to put the "how" into context. It can reinforce your email announcements and live training, getting people to learn the new process. Often times, users don't know what to ask, or how to ask it - if you can frame their question for them and then provide an answer, you will be a superstar. If they knew what to ask or how to ask it, then having "search" functionality would be sufficient.Īnother reason to have contextual help is to make users aware of new workflows and features in your Salesforce isntance. So making contextual help available to your users right in Salesforce can be a powerful tool when you're trying to improve how your organization uses Salesforce - but if it's not done right, it can leave you with the same hum drum results your PDF guides get as they continue to sit in the shared drive. The best kind of help documentation anticipates questions and problems that your users will have, and then makes the answers available right when your users have them. ![]() ![]() Other MAPublisher output capabilities include converting maps in a Web Mercator coordinate system to be compatible with web maps such as Google Maps. To ensure compatibility, MAPublisher can also open geospatial PDFs made in other applications. Working with a geographically aware MAPublisher document allows you to output to multiple formats, including geospatial PDF - a geographically aware PDF file. Making quality maps that bring to life complex geospatial data requires a mix of science, art, and specialized tools to get it right. Data can be quickly imported, split into different layers, have styles applied based on its attributes, and still be maintained at a high level of geographic accuracy. Using MAPublisher from the beginning with georeferenced data makes the entire map design process easier. Many maps start with data in a standard map projection. Since Adobe Illustrator and MAPublisher work together seamlessly, you don’t need to exit the environment and go into another application to edit the source data. ![]() ![]() You can see all the information assigned to the block group and use the data to create thematic maps or maps that show a specific theme’s spatial variability. For example, you can bring in a census data set from a county, click on a block group in Adobe Illustrator, and open a MAPublisher panel to view its attributes, such as its name, identifier, or demographic makeup. MAPublisher allows you to work in a GIS environment from inside Adobe Illustrator. A new trail dataset reflecting changes in trails and points of interest can be imported, and its labels on a trail map can be updated quickly using its attributes. For example, on a world map, an updated political border layer can be imported once and re-scaled or transformed using MAPublisher tools without having first to export it from a GIS software. In the real world, natural or artificial boundaries and features are continually changing, and cartographers need to update maps at different scales and different styles to reflect these changes. promotions/products/creative-cloud/illustrator MAPublisher maintains geographic properties of any data imported into Illustrator and maintains a “map awareness” where users can make unique design decisions using data-driven design tools. However, those exported files’ geographic information is lost once opened in Illustrator, essentially turning them into static “map illiterate” documents. Many GIS applications offer an Adobe Illustrator export option, proving that Illustrator has long been the preferred work environment for making maps. MAPublisher bridges the gap between the two worlds of GIS and graphic design software. In contrast, graphic design software has treated geographic features as any other graphic elements, without regard for how they are connected in predictable ways to other geographic elements and to Earth itself. Traditionally, GIS software has offered users limited ability to manipulate the visual attributes (hue, brightness, saturation, transparency, line thickness, text, etc.) of geographic features.
